Per its own current fee brochure, a $500,000 account would run $6,250 a year under its published fee schedule. Already a client and thinking about leaving? What SVB Wealth’s own fee schedule charges
The registrant is SVB Wealth LLC of Boston, Massachusetts, which the SEC record also lists under the names First Citizens Wealth, SVB Private and Boston Private. The priced schedule is the Wealth Management Services fee, and the brochure lists individuals, IRAs and trusts among its clients.
“Fee Schedules Account Value Annualized Fee First $1,000,000 1.25% Next $1,500,000 1.15% Next $7,500,000 0.90% Over $10,000,000 0.70%”
The brochure lists the schedule as “First”, “Next” and “Over” bands, so each balance is priced marginally, with each band’s rate applied only to the dollars inside it. That gives 1.25% on the first $1,000,000 and 1.15% on the next $1,000,000 in the $2,000,000 case. The brochure discloses no stated account minimum and no minimum annual dollar fee, so no floor applies. It says the fee schedule represents the maximum standard annual rate and that the fee may be negotiated, so the figures are ceilings rather than typical charges.
What the same brochure says about fees charged on top of this schedule: “Fees for any Third-Party Manager(s), custodian(s) and transactions will be charged to the client in addition to the Advisory Fee.” The table below is the firm’s own advisory fee schedule and does not include any such additional fee.
| Account balance | Annual fee |
|---|---|
| $250,000 | $3,125 |
| $500,000 | $6,250 |
| $1,000,000 | $12,500 |
| $2,000,000 | $24,000 |
These figures come directly from SVB Wealth’s own current fee brochure, cited in Sources below.
Registration
SVB Wealth LLC is registered with the SEC as an investment adviser (CRD #172832, confirmed ACTIVE this session via SEC IAPD).
This is a registration confirmation only, not a fiduciary-standard verdict (a registered investment adviser can still be a dual registrant with a broker-dealer, which changes which standard applies in each capacity).
What it costs to leave
SVB Wealth LLC’s Form ADV Part 2A states “The services continue in effect until terminated by either party (i.e., the client or SVBW) by providing written notice of termination to the other party.” SVB Wealth LLC names two possible custodians in its brochure, with no single default. Charles Schwab & Co., Inc.’s own published fee schedule states “Full transfer (out) of assets” Fidelity Brokerage Services LLC / National Financial Services LLC discloses no comparable line item (an honest gap).
The general mechanics of switching financial advisors and a dated termination letter apply regardless of firm.
