Guides › Financial Advisor Fees
Updated September 18, 2026. Quick answer: $100,000 for Betterment Premium. Betterment Premium’s own Form ADV Part 2A brochure states this figure directly, though the firm can waive or reduce it at its own discretion. At that minimum, Betterment Premium’s own published fee schedule works out to $650 a year.
The minimum, in the firm’s own words
“Retail Clients with a balance of at least $100,000 in Betterment wrap accounts are eligible to participate in the Betterment Premium plan.”
On waivability: “Betterment reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to reduce or waive the Account Balance Threshold.”
Minimum investment and what it would cost

$100,000 is Betterment Premium’s own whole-balance breakpoint threshold; the disclosed 0.65% combined rate (0.25% base wrap fee plus 0.40% Premium access fee) applies to the full balance once that minimum is met: $100,000 x 0.65% = $650.
Betterment Premium’s own fee schedule at other balances
| Account balance | Annual fee |
|---|---|
| $250,000 | $1,625 |
| $500,000 | $3,250 |
| $1,000,000 | $6,500 |
| $2,000,000 | $5,000 |
What a larger account would cost
The minimum is only the entry point. On a $500,000 account, Betterment Premium’s own published fee schedule runs $3,250 a year; see the full dollar breakdown from Betterment Premium’s own fee disclosure across several account sizes.

Methodology. This page was built September 18, 2026, quoting directly from Betterment Premium’s own current Form ADV Part 2A / wrap-fee brochure, with the source linked above. The annual-fee-at-the-minimum figure applies that same brochure’s own published fee schedule to the disclosed minimum dollar amount; any distinction we could not independently confirm this session is named as an honest gap rather than presented as verified. Nothing here is personalized financial, tax, legal, or investment advice, and it is not a substitute for reading the firm’s own Form ADV Part 2A.
