The published numbers
From the Chevy Chase Trust Company Form ADV Part 2A Brochure (March 31, 2026): “The asset-based fees documented below are for CCTC’s investment management services, subject to negotiation when circumstances warrant. A $35,000 minimum fee applies, with certain pre-approved exceptions. The basic fee schedules are as follows, based on a $3 million minimum: I. Investment Management Services: Annual Fee Calculation: 1.25% on the first $2,000,000 of assets under management; 1.00% on the next $3,000,000 of assets under management; 0.75% on the next $5,000,000 of assets under management; 0.50% on the balance of assets under management.”
Note: Chevy Chase Trust Company’s own basic fee schedules are based on a stated $3 million account minimum, and a separate $35,000 minimum annual fee applies (with certain pre-approved exceptions). The figures below show what the firm’s own published marginal schedule computes at each balance shown, including three below that stated $3 million minimum; at all four the $35,000 minimum annual fee exceeds the marginal-schedule amount and so dominates the result.
- First $2,000,000: 1.25%
- Next $3,000,000: 1.00%
- Next $5,000,000: 0.75%
- Balance: 0.50%
Minimum annual fee: $35,000.
What you would pay
| Account balance | Annual fee (dollars) | Effective rate |
|---|---|---|
| $250,000 | $35,000 | 14.00% |
| $500,000 | $35,000 | 7.00% |
| $1,000,000 | $35,000 | 3.50% |
| $2,000,000 | $35,000 | 1.75% |
CCTC’s schedule is a marginal, bracket-style schedule computed like an income tax bracket from $0 (1.25% on the first $2,000,000; 1.00% on the next $3,000,000; 0.75% on the next $5,000,000; 0.50% on the balance), with a stated $35,000 minimum annual fee: at $250,000 (3,125), $500,000 (6,250), $1,000,000 (12,500) and $2,000,000 (25,000) the marginal-schedule amount is below the $35,000 minimum at every one of the four balances shown, so the $35,000 floor applies at all four. This is disclosed plainly as a direct mathematical consequence of the stated minimum, not a copy-paste defect.
