Oppenheimer & Co. Minimum Investment (2026): What It Takes to Open an Account

Guides › Financial Advisor Fees

Updated September 23, 2026. Quick answer: It depends which strategy you pick: OMEGA Program (and OMEGA Retirement Program) runs from $10,000 to $100,000, depending on the specific strategy or model portfolio. At the $10,000 low end, Oppenheimer & Co.’s own fee schedule works out to $300 a year; strategies at the high end require substantially more.

The minimum, in the firm’s own words

“The maximum fee and minimum account size for each program are set forth in the table below. The minimum annual fee for an account in any program is $250. The minimum fee will not apply if the account is at least $50,000.00 or advisory accounts in a client’s household are at least $250,000.”

On waivability: “Minimum account sizes for the programs are set forth in the table in item 4. Oppenheimer may waive these minimums in its discretion.”

$500,000$15,000
$1,000,000$30,000

What else to know

Oppenheimer’s OMEGA Program’s minimum account size varies by sub-account type from $10,000 (Funds Only) to $100,000 (fixed income and balanced-with-bonds sleeves); a separate $250-a-year minimum fee applies firmwide unless the account (or household) clears a size threshold.

What a larger account would cost

The minimum is only the entry point. On a $500,000 account, Oppenheimer & Co.’s own published fee schedule runs up to $15,000 a year (the published maximum); see the full dollar breakdown from Oppenheimer & Co.’s own fee disclosure across several account sizes.

Methodology. This page was built September 23, 2026, quoting directly from Oppenheimer & Co.’s own current Form ADV Part 2A / wrap-fee brochure, with the source linked above. The annual-fee-at-the-minimum figure applies that same brochure’s own published fee schedule to the disclosed minimum dollar amount; any distinction we could not independently confirm this session is named as an honest gap rather than presented as verified.
