TIAA Wealth Management Minimum Investment (2026): What It Takes to Open an Account

Guides › Financial Advisor Fees

Updated September 18, 2026. Quick answer: There is no minimum. TIAA Wealth Management’s own Form ADV Part 2A brochure states that the Private Asset Management (PAM) Program does not have a minimum investment amount; $1,000,000 is the level of investable assets the program is generally deemed appropriate for, and the brochure itself calls those figures suggested investment amounts. At that $1,000,000 level, TIAA Wealth Management’s own published PAM Fee Blended Schedule works out to $9,000 a year.

The minimum, in the firm’s own words

“PAM does not have a minimum investment amount, but the Program generally is deemed appropriate for clients with at least $1,000,000 in investable assets in the Program.”

$1,000,000 sits entirely inside the first marginal tier of TIAA’s PAM Fee Blended Schedule (First $1,000,000 of market value at 0.90%): $1,000,000 x 0.90% = $9,000. An exclusively fixed-income PAM account is priced on a separate schedule that charges 0.50% on that same first $1,000,000.

TIAA Wealth Management’s own fee schedule at other balances

Account balanceAnnual fee
$250,000$2,250
$500,000$4,500
$1,000,000$9,000
$2,000,000$16,000

What else to know

TIAA’s own brochure states PAM ‘does not have a minimum investment amount’ — $1,000,000 is the asset level the program is generally deemed appropriate for, not an enforced minimum a smaller account would be turned away for.

What a larger account would cost

The suggested level is only a guide, and a smaller account is priced on the same schedule. On a $500,000 account, TIAA Wealth Management’s own published fee schedule runs $4,500 a year; see the full dollar breakdown from TIAA Wealth Management’s own fee disclosure across several account sizes.
