GenTrust Minimum Investment (2026): What It Takes to Open an Account

Guides › Financial Advisor Fees

Updated September 28, 2026. Quick answer: $10,000,000 for a GenTrust discretionary investment management account. GenTrust’s own Form ADV Part 2A brochure states this figure directly, though the firm can waive or reduce it at its own discretion. At that minimum, GenTrust’s own published fee schedule works out to $150,000 a year.

Account minimums at comparable advisory firms: Betterment Premium Minimum Investment (2026) and BMO Private Wealth Minimum Investment (2026).

The minimum, in the firm’s own words

“GenTrust generally requires clients to have a minimum account size of $10 million. However, GenTrust may waive this requirement at its discretion. Family members’ accounts may be aggregated to meet the minimum portfolio size. In addition, the minimum requirement will be waived for employees or employee-related accounts.”

On waivability: “GenTrust may waive this requirement at its discretion.”

The minimum is only the entry point. On a $500,000 account, GenTrust’s own published fee schedule runs up to $7,500 a year (the published maximum); see the full dollar breakdown from GenTrust’s own fee disclosure across several account sizes. Read our full review of GenTrust before you decide.

Methodology. This page was built September 28, 2026, quoting directly from GenTrust’s own current Form ADV Part 2A / wrap-fee brochure, with the source linked above. The annual-fee-at-the-minimum figure applies that same brochure’s own published fee schedule to the disclosed minimum dollar amount; any distinction we could not independently confirm this session is named as an honest gap rather than presented as verified. Nothing here is personalized financial, tax, legal, or investment advice, and it is not a substitute for reading the firm’s own Form ADV Part 2A.
