Creative Planning Minimum Investment (2026): What It Takes to Open an Account

Guides › Financial Advisor Fees

Updated September 18, 2026. Quick answer: $200,000 for standard individual/HNW advisory. Creative Planning’s own Form ADV Part 2A brochure states this figure directly, though the firm can waive or reduce it at its own discretion. At that minimum, Creative Planning’s own published fee schedule works out to $2,400 a year.

The minimum, in the firm’s own words

“Creative Planning generally requires new clients to have a minimum of $200,000 assets under management.”

On waivability: “At our discretion and based upon specific facts and circumstances including, but not limited to, the amount of assets anticipated to be under management, account householding arrangements, or other services provided, we may waive the minimum when we believe it is suitable.”

$200,000 sits inside Creative Planning’s first marginal band (first $500,000 at 1.20%): $200,000 x 1.20% = $2,400.

$250,000$3,000
$500,000$6,000
$1,000,000$11,000
$2,000,000$21,000

What a larger account would cost

The minimum is only the entry point. On a $500,000 account, Creative Planning’s own published fee schedule runs $6,000 a year; see the full dollar breakdown from Creative Planning’s own fee disclosure across several account sizes.

Methodology. This page was built September 18, 2026, quoting directly from Creative Planning’s own current Form ADV Part 2A / wrap-fee brochure, with the source linked above. The annual-fee-at-the-minimum figure applies that same brochure’s own published fee schedule to the disclosed minimum dollar amount; any distinction we could not independently confirm this session is named as an honest gap rather than presented as verified. Nothing here is personalized financial, tax, legal, or investment advice, and it is not a substitute for reading the firm’s own Form ADV Part 2A.
