CIBC Private Wealth Management Minimum Investment (2026): What It Takes to Open an Account

Guides › Financial Advisor Fees

Updated September 28, 2026. Quick answer: $1,000,000 for its general wealth-management relationship. CIBC Private Wealth Management’s own Form ADV Part 2A brochure states this figure directly, though the firm can waive or reduce it at its own discretion. At that minimum, CIBC Private Wealth Management’s own published fee schedule works out to $12,000 a year.

The minimum, in the firm’s own words

“We generally require a minimum account size of $1,000,000.”

On waivability: “Additionally, we waive the minimum account size based on several factors such as existing relationships or the expectation that a relationship will grow.”

What else to know

CIBC’s standard fee schedules for its equity/balanced, fixed-income, cash, and wealth-management separate accounts each carry a separate $10,000 minimum annual fee, and its family office services are generally reserved for qualified clients with $50 million or more in assets under management; neither of these narrower figures is the firm’s general account-minimum disclosure.

What a larger account would cost

The minimum is only the entry point. On a $500,000 account, CIBC Private Wealth Management’s own Form ADV Part 2A (June 22, 2026) works out to $10,000 a year under its published fee schedule.

The annual-fee-at-the-minimum figure applies that same brochure’s own published fee schedule to the disclosed minimum dollar amount; any distinction we could not independently confirm this session is named as an honest gap rather than presented as verified.
