Updated October 1, 2026. Quick answer: The Medicare Part B deductible for 2026 is $283, up $26 from $257 in 2025. It is the same for every Part B beneficiary and is separate from the monthly premium, which is $202.90. The Part A inpatient hospital deductible is $1,736.

The other 2026 Medicare figures: the 2026 Part A deductible, the 2026 Part A premium and the Medicare Part B deductible status page.

The 2026 Part B deductible

CMS says “The annual deductible for all Medicare Part B beneficiaries will be $283 in 2026, an increase of $26 from the annual deductible of $257 in 2025.”

2026 Medicare cost figures side by side

Item20252026
Part B annual deductible$257$283
Part B standard monthly premium$185.00$202.90
Part A inpatient hospital deductible$1,676$1,736

The Part A deductible covers “beneficiaries’ share of costs for the first 60 days of Medicare-covered inpatient hospital care in a benefit period.”

Coinsurance after the deductible

CMS’s payment instruction lists “Part B coinsurance: 20%” beside the deductible. After the $283 is met, the beneficiary’s share of covered Part B services is that 20%.

2026 Medicare Part A cost sharing

Part A item2026 amount
Inpatient hospital deductible$1,736
Hospital coinsurance, days 61 to 90$434 a day
Hospital coinsurance, lifetime reserve days$868 a day
Skilled nursing facility coinsurance, days 21 to 100$217 a day
Part A base premium$565 a month

The Part A figures are in the CMS fact sheet and in the payment instruction. The $565 is the full premium for people without enough quarters of coverage.

Premium versus deductible

The deductible is a once-a-year amount you pay for Part B services before coverage starts to share costs. The premium is the monthly charge for having Part B. The premium rises with income, up to $689.90 a month for the highest bracket in 2026, but the deductible is the same for everyone. For the premium brackets see the IRMAA page.

Medigap and the Part B deductible

Supplemental Medigap coverage interacts with this deductible. See the Plan G page for how Plan G treats the Part B deductible.

Common mistakes

  • Confusing the $283 deductible with the $202.90 monthly premium.
  • Using the 2025 amount of $257 for 2026 services.
  • Assuming a high income raises the deductible. It raises the premium only.
