Guides › Financial Advisor Fees
Updated September 24, 2026. Quick answer: It depends which hat Huntington Private Bank is wearing. As your investment adviser, Huntington Private Bank owes you a fiduciary duty under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940. As your broker-dealer, Huntington Private Bank owes you Regulation Best Interest, a real and enforceable standard, but not a fiduciary duty. Huntington Private Bank’s own Form CRS states: “When we provide you with a recommendation as your broker-dealer or act as your investment adviser, we have to act in your best interest and not put our interest ahead of yours.”
How it’s registered
From The Huntington Investment Company Form CRS (July 21, 2025): “We are registered as a broker-dealer and an investment adviser with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) and this disclosure summarizes our brokerage and advisory services.”
The brand name Huntington Private Bank is not itself an SEC-registered entity. Per IAPD, the CRD 16986 registrant is The Huntington Investment Company, which does business as Huntington Financial Advisors and is dually registered with the SEC as a broker-dealer and investment adviser. Huntington’s own marketing describes Huntington Private Bank as a service mark under which its affiliate, The Huntington National Bank, a nationally chartered bank with trust powers, provides banking and trust and investment management services to qualifying clients, a separate legal entity not covered by this Form CRS. This page, like the already-live fee page, describes The Huntington Investment Company and Huntington Financial Advisors only.
The standard of conduct, in its own words
“When we provide you with a recommendation as your broker-dealer or act as your investment adviser, we have to act in your best interest and not put our interest ahead of yours.”
On commissions: “Your Financial Advisor is paid a base salary plus a percentage of brokerage commissions and advisory fee revenue he or she generates for us (their “production”).”

What this means for what you pay
Fiduciary status is one input, not the whole picture. Huntington Private Bank discloses a published fee that runs $7,775 a year on a $500,000 account; see the full dollar breakdown from Huntington Private Bank’s own fee disclosure before deciding whether the standard of conduct here changes your answer.
If the answer above changes your mind about staying, read the general mechanics of switching financial advisors, or use a dated termination letter once you decide.

How our partner relationships workCompare an adviser match before you decide
Ask about the full fee, what it covers and how the adviser is paid. A match is an introduction, not a recommendation from Clear Money Guide.
- Free matching service
- No obligation to hire
The matching service is run by WiserAdvisor, an independent advisor-matching company. It opens on their site, asks for your ZIP code and a few questions, and matches you with 2 to 3 vetted advisors. It is free to you. WiserAdvisor states the service is built for portfolios of $250,000 and above. By submitting, you consent to emails, phone calls and text messages from WiserAdvisor and up to three advisors, so expect to be contacted. Advisers pay for the introduction. Clear Money Guide is paid when you complete the form, whether or not you ever hire anyone. There is no obligation to hire anyone.
