Citi Personal Wealth Management Review (2026): Fees, Fiduciary Status, and Minimum

Guides › Financial Advisor Fees

Updated September 23, 2026. Quick answer: Citi Personal Wealth Management is registered with the SEC as both a broker-dealer and an investment adviser. Per its own current fee brochure, a $500,000 account would run up to $10,000 a year (the published maximum, which the firm says is negotiable) under its published fee schedule; the minimum to open an account is $25,000 to $10,000,000 for CGMI advisory programs offered to Citi Personal Wealth Management clients (Fiduciary Services, MACS Citi Active Allocation, Citi Advisor, Citi Portfolio Manager, Dynamic Allocation Portfolios-UMA), depending on strategy. Already a client and thinking about leaving? Budget $95 per account, the same figure printed twice under two names. Is it a fiduciary? Yes, when it is acting as your investment adviser; when the same representative acts as your broker-dealer instead, the applicable standard is best-interest, not fiduciary, and its own Form CRS states representatives can earn commissions in that capacity.

What Citi Personal Wealth Management’s own fee schedule charges

“We updated the standard fee schedule for the CGMI investment advisory programs described in this brochure. CGMI charges an annualized, fixed asset-based fee (“CGMI fee”) of up to 2% that is negotiable based on a number of factors. … CPWM clients are eligible to participate in the following Programs: Fiduciary Services Program, Consulting and Evaluation Services Program, Multi-Asset Class Solutions Program … Citi Advisor Program, Citi Portfolio Manager Program, Dynamic Allocation Portfolios – UMA Program, Model Allocations Portfolios Program.”

CGMI discloses a single individually-negotiated maximum (‘up to 2%’) applied to the whole account balance across all of the CGMI advisory programs available to Citi Personal Wealth Management (CPWM) clients, with no fixed dollar minimum fee disclosed in this brochure. dollar_at = balance x 0.02 at each of the four balances (e.g., $500,000 x 0.02 = $10,000). CPWM’s flagship discretionary program, Fiduciary Services (FS), is the one CGMI’s own text says CPWM clients pay the highest CGMI fee rate for (relative to the private-bank/Wealth-at-Work equivalent MSP program), so 2.00% is not a theoretical edge case for this segment.

Account balanceAnnual fee
$250,000$5,000
$500,000$10,000
$1,000,000$20,000
$2,000,000$40,000
