Bernzott Capital Advisors Fees (2026): What You Pay in Dollars at $250k, $500k, $1M

Guides › Financial Advisor Fees

Updated September 28, 2026. Quick answer: Bernzott Capital Advisors discloses a tiered schedule starting at 1.00% in its Form ADV Part 2A (March 31, 2026). Converted to dollars, that runs $5,000 a year on a $500,000 account; see the full table below for $250,000, $1 million and $2 million.

The published numbers

From the Form ADV Part 2A (March 31, 2026): “Private Clients Asset-based Fee The asset-based fee is generally paid quarterly, in arrears based upon the prior quarter-end statement value of the account as computed by the account custodian, according to the following tiered fee schedule: Assets Under Management Annual Fee First $2 million 1.00% Next $3 million 0.75% Above $5 million 0.50%”

Note: CRD 104583 was confirmed ACTIVE and SEC registered through a live SEC IAPD lookup on September 28, 2026. Bernzott Capital Advisors is the registered adviser, a Camarillo, California investment adviser that describes itself as a classic value investor, and the SEC record lists no name other than spelling variants of the same name. The firm reports about $265.4 million in regulatory assets under management. The priced figure is the Private Clients schedule; the brochure lists a separate Institutional Clients schedule (0.90% down to 0.65%), which is not used here.

  • $0-$2,000,000: 1.00%
  • $2,000,001-$5,000,000: 0.75%
  • $5,000,001 and above: 0.50%

The priced figure is the asset-based management fee for Private Clients only. The brochure says its fees do not include brokerage commissions, dealer spreads or other securities transaction costs, custodian fees, interest, taxes and other account expenses, and that clients may also incur fees charged directly by mutual funds, index funds and exchange-traded funds and by variable annuity providers. The firm says it receives none of those amounts, that it does not offer wrap fee programs, and that its asset-based fees are the sole source of compensation it receives from clients. There are no hourly charges and no fees to open or close an account. The separate Institutional Client schedule is not used here.

What you would pay

Account balanceAnnual fee (dollars)Effective rate
$250,000$2,5001.00%
$500,000$5,0001.00%
$1,000,000$10,0001.00%
$2,000,000$20,0001.00%

The schedule is worded as First, Next and Above amounts, so each rate is applied only to the band it covers, with the bands stacked. The brochure says multiple accounts for one client relationship can be combined to determine fee breaks, and that fees are billed quarterly in arrears. The firm states it does not impose a minimum annual fee, so no fee floor applies; separately, the brochure gives a $1 million minimum relationship size for private clients, which it may waive at its discretion, so the $250,000 and $500,000 rows assume a waiver. The brochure adds that in special circumstances the firm may negotiate a lower fee in its sole discretion, so the schedule is the firm’s published rate rather than a guaranteed charge.
