Balentine Minimum Investment (2026): What It Takes to Open an Account

Guides › Financial Advisor Fees

Updated September 28, 2026. Quick answer: $5,000,000 for actively managed accounts. Balentine’s own Form ADV Part 2A brochure states this figure directly, though the firm can waive or reduce it at its own discretion. At that minimum, Balentine’s own published fee schedule works out to $50,000 a year.

The minimum, in the firm’s own words

“As stated, the Firm’s minimum for actively managed client assets generally is $5 million, although the Firm has and may, in its sole discretion, waive or reduce the minimum requirement.”

On waivability: “although the Firm has and may, in its sole discretion, waive or reduce the minimum requirement.”

Balentine’s disclosed $5,000,000 minimum is priced by its headline General Fee Schedule (1.00% on the first $5,000,000), which computes to $50,000 = 5,000,000 x 0.0100. That is a DIFFERENT schedule from the one the fee-comparison table below uses: the four benchmark balances above (up to $2,000,000) all fall below the $5,000,000 minimum, so Balentine’s own brochure directs them to a separate, cheaper sub-minimum accommodation schedule (1.25% on the first $2,500,000, marginal) that the firm agrees to “in its sole discretion.”

$250,000$3,125
$500,000$6,250
$1,000,000$12,500
$2,000,000$25,000

What else to know

Balentine also discloses an unquantified minimum for its Private Funds: “The minimum investment for each Private Fund is disclosed in the Private Fund’s Confidential Private Placement Memorandum,” a separate document not part of this brochure.

What a larger account would cost

The minimum is only the entry point. On a $500,000 account, Balentine’s own published fee schedule runs $6,250 a year; see the full dollar breakdown from Balentine’s own fee disclosure across several account sizes. Read our full review of Balentine before you decide.

Already a client and thinking about the minimum a different way, like whether you could get a better deal elsewhere? Read the general mechanics of switching financial advisors, or use a dated termination letter once you decide.

Methodology. This page was built September 28, 2026, quoting directly from Balentine’s own current Form ADV Part 2A / wrap-fee brochure, with the source linked above. The annual-fee-at-the-minimum figure applies that same brochure’s own published fee schedule to the disclosed minimum dollar amount; any distinction we could not independently confirm this session is named as an honest gap rather than presented as verified.
