AFR Rates 2026 by Month: Short, Mid and Long Term and 120% Rate

Updated September 28, 2026. Quick answer: every 2026 applicable federal rate published so far, month by month, annual compounding: short, mid and long-term AFR plus the 120% mid-term rate, each linked to the revenue ruling that set it. The most recent ruling covers October 2026, which begins October 1, at 4.25% short-term, from Rev. Rul. 2026-19. September has its own page and October has its own page, with the full annual/semiannual/quarterly/monthly table and the section 7520 rate.

Where the rates go next, before the IRS publishes them: the January 2027 AFR rates when the IRS publishes them and the 2027 AFR rates as the IRS publishes them.

The next month, now published: the November 2026 AFR rates.

Last year’s rates and the 7520 series: the 2025 AFR table, the section 7520 rate by month and the August 2026 AFR rates.

The same months a year on, before the IRS publishes them: the February 2027 AFR rates when the IRS publishes them, the March 2027 AFR rates when the IRS publishes them, the April 2027 AFR rates when the IRS publishes them, the May 2027 AFR rates when the IRS publishes them and the June 2027 AFR rates when the IRS publishes them.

The late months of 2027 and the year 2028, before the IRS publishes them: the October 2027 AFR rates when the IRS publishes them, the November 2027 AFR rates when the IRS publishes them, the December 2027 AFR rates when the IRS publishes them and the 2028 AFR rates when the IRS publishes them.

Every 2026 month

The 120% mid-term rate is included here because it is the figure most often asked for on its own; the plain AFR and the 110%/130%/150%/175% variants for every month are in the annual/semiannual table or the ruling itself.

What this covers, and what it does not

This table carries 10 of 2026’s months, the ones with a published ruling as of September 28, 2026; a month with no ruling yet is not guessed at. It carries annual compounding only; semiannual figures for every month are on the by-month page, and the full four-column table for September, October is on each month’s own page above. It does not carry the section 382 rate, the low-income housing percentages, or the section 7520 rate; those are Tables 2 through 5 of the same rulings and are not reproduced here.
