Updated October 1, 2026. Quick answer: The 2027 Medicare Part B deductible has not been announced as of October 1, 2026. The current figure is the 2026 deductible, $283 a year. CMS published the 2026 amounts in a fact sheet dated November 14, 2025. Nothing on this page is a forecast of the 2027 figure.
What is official today
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Part B annual deductible, 2026 | $283 |
| Part B annual deductible, 2025 | $257 |
| Increase | $26 |
The CMS fact sheet says “The annual deductible for all Medicare Part B beneficiaries will be $283 in 2026, an increase of $26 from the annual deductible of $257 in 2025.” Medicare.gov, read on October 1, 2026, still shows the 2026 amount under the heading “What you pay in 2026”, with the deductible listed as “Yearly $283 before Original Medicare starts to pay.”
How the figure gets set
CMS states that “Each year, the Medicare Part B premium, deductible, and coinsurance rates are determined according to provisions of the Social Security Act.” The fact sheet carrying the 2026 amounts is dated November 14, 2025. We found no 2027 announcement as of October 1, 2026, and we are not publishing an estimate as if it were the figure.
What the deductible does
Medicare.gov says you pay the deductible “once each year”. After it, the site says you usually pay “20% of the cost for each Medicare-covered service or item” as coinsurance. The premium is a separate monthly amount; see the 2027 Part B premium page for its status.
Common mistakes
- Planning around a projected 2027 deductible as if it were official. None has been announced.
- Mixing up the Part B deductible ($283) with the Part A hospital deductible, which is a separate figure.
- Assuming the deductible applies each month. It applies once a year.
