The published numbers
From the Form ADV Part 2A (March 30, 2026): “We generally charge asset-based fees which means that fees are calculated as a percentage of your total assets under management, and range from .10% to 1.70% depending on the services provided. Individual accounts may be assessed differing fees but the average asset-based fee for your total assets will not exceed 1.70%.”
Note: CRD 158282 is ACTIVE and SEC registered per the SEC Investment Adviser Public Disclosure database, checked October 25, 2026. IAPD lists the firm as Advisory Alpha, LLC, with several d-b-a names on record. The firm reported about $4.37 billion in regulatory assets under management across 24,401 accounts. The priced ceiling is the firm’s asset-based advisory fee for clients managed by its investment advisor representatives.
The published average cap: 1.7% per year (The priced figure is the stated 1.70% average cap; the brochure says fees range from 0.10% to 1.70% depending on services, so many clients may pay less. Clients who elect a model portfolio from the firm’s Direct Series pay a separate technology trading fee of 0.10% a year on top of the asset-based fee, which is not reflected below. Some investment advisor representatives may also set a minimum annual fee, and third-party fees such as custodian, fund and transaction costs are separate.).
What you would pay
| Account balance | Annual fee (dollars) | Effective rate |
|---|---|---|
| $250,000 | $4,250 | 1.70% |
| $500,000 | $8,500 | 1.70% |
| $1,000,000 | $17,000 | 1.70% |
| $2,000,000 | $34,000 | 1.70% |
The brochure states that the average asset-based fee across a client’s total assets will not exceed 1.70%, so each balance is priced at that stated maximum. Any minimum annual fee is set case by case by the representative and no dollar amount is published, so no floor is applied.
How this compares
Our benchmark of published adviser fee schedules puts the weighted median annual cost near $2,000 to $2,500 on $250,000 (the benchmark). At $500,000, a 1.70% average asset-based fee at Advisory Alpha comes to $8,500 a year, before any 0.10% Direct Series technology trading fee.
