Updated September 23, 2026. Quick answer: M1 Finance discloses a maximum rate of 0.2% in its Form ADV Part 2A Brochure (July 8, 2026). Converted to dollars, that runs $1,000 a year on a $500,000 account; see the full table below for $250,000, $1 million and $2 million.
M1 Finance fee schedule 2026 (published maximum)
This schedule comes from the Form ADV Part 2A Brochure, dated July 8, 2026, the same filing cited under Sources below.
From the Form ADV Part 2A Brochure (July 8, 2026): “The Firm charges an annual advisory fee based on the average daily balance of assets in the client’s advisory brokerage account or accounts maintained through M1 Finance LLC. The annual advisory fee charged to a client’s account will not exceed 0.20% per year.”
Note: M1 Finance’s brokerage app and its advisory service are two separate SEC filings: the fee below is charged by the advisory entity, M1 Advisory Services LLC (CRD 249787), not by the broker-dealer M1 Finance LLC that holds the account.
The published maximum: 0.2% per year (Single advisory fee rate for the Firm’s sole offering: non-discretionary investment advice delivered through the ‘M1 Advisor’ AI-powered advisory platform on brokerage accounts held at the affiliated broker-dealer M1 Finance LLC. The brochure states the Firm does not operate a tiered or breakpoint schedule.).
What you would pay
| Account balance | Annual fee (dollars) | Effective rate |
|---|---|---|
| $250,000 | $500 | 0.20% |
| $500,000 | $1,000 | 0.20% |
| $1,000,000 | $2,000 | 0.20% |
| $2,000,000 | $4,000 | 0.20% |
The fee is a single ceiling rate of 0.20% per year on the average daily balance, with no breakpoints, so dollar_at is simply balance times 0.002 at each of the four balances (for example, $1,000,000 x 0.002 = $2,000). The brochure notes M1 Holdings additionally charges a separate $3.00 monthly platform fee (waived above a $10,000 balance) that is not part of the AUM-based advisory fee and is not included in these figures.
How this compares
Our benchmark of published adviser fee schedules puts the weighted median annual cost near $2,000 to $2,500 on $250,000 (the benchmark). At $500,000, M1 Finance’s own published rate runs $1,000 a year.
