Fidelity vs Primerica Fees (2026): Cost at $250k, $500k, $1M

Guides › Financial Advisor Fees

Updated October 3, 2026. Quick answer: Fidelity is less expensive at $500,000: $6,250 a year, versus up to $8,550 a year for Primerica (the 1.25% advisory fee is a stated maximum that the brochure says is negotiable; the 0.46% program fee generally is not negotiable; an Asset Manager fee of 0.00% to 0.50% can apply on top), computed from each firm’s own SEC-filed fee disclosure. See the full side-by-side table below for $250,000, $1 million and $2 million.

What each firm charges, side by side

Account balanceFidelity (annual fee)Primerica (maximum annual fee)
$250,000$3,750Up to $4,350
$500,000$6,250Up to $8,550
$1,000,000$11,750Up to $15,200
$2,000,000$20,750Up to $27,600

Fidelity discloses a tiered schedule starting at 1.50% (capped at $6,250) (Fidelity Wealth Services Form ADV Part 2A Brochure (Strategic Advisers LLC), March 30, 2026); Primerica discloses a tiered schedule starting at 1.25% advisory + 0.49% program = 1.74% (PFS Investments Inc. (Primerica Advisors) Wrap Fee Program Brochure, Form ADV Part 2A Appendix 1, March 30, 2026).

What the fee includes, in each firm’s own words

Fidelity Wealth Management (Fidelity Wealth Services Form ADV Part 2A Brochure (Strategic Advisers LLC), March 30, 2026): Fidelity’s fee table lists the Wealth Management and Private Wealth Management Gross Advisory Fee as 1.50% (up to a maximum of $6,250) if Average Daily Assets total $500,000 or less. If they total more than $500,000, the table lists 1.25% on the first $500,000, 1.10% on the next $500,000 or portion thereof, 0.90% on the next $1,000,000 or portion thereof, 0.70% on the next $3,000,000 or portion thereof and 0.50% on Average Daily Assets in excess of $5,000,000.

This is the Gross Advisory Fee; Fidelity applies a Credit Amount that can lower the Net Advisory Fee a client actually pays, which is not quantified in the public schedule.

Primerica (PFS Investments Inc. (Primerica Advisors) Wrap Fee Program Brochure, Form ADV Part 2A Appendix 1, March 30, 2026): Primerica’s maximum Advisory fee is 1.25% on accounts up to $500,000, 1.10% from $500,000.01 to $1,000,000 and 1.00% from $1,000,000.01 to $3,000,000, with lower rates above. The Program fee is 0.49% up to $250,000, 0.46% from $250,000.01 to $500,000, 0.42% from $500,000.01 to $1,000,000 and 0.38% from $1,000,000.01 to $3,000,000.

Primerica Advisors is a breakpoint schedule: only the rate for your bracket applies, to the whole balance. This covers the Primerica Advisors Lifetime Investment Program specifically; Primerica, Inc.’s subsidiaries also offer term life insurance, mutual funds and annuities distributed primarily on behalf of third parties. An additional Asset Manager fee (0.00% to 0.50%, depending on the model selected) can apply on top.

How this compares

The median ria charges roughly 1.0% of assets under management annually (the benchmark). At $500,000, Fidelity runs $6,250 a year before its Credit Amount and Primerica runs up to $8,550 a year before any Asset Manager fee of 0.00% to 0.50%: a difference of $2,300 a year between those figures at that balance.
