Updated October 16, 2026. Quick answer: Edward Jones Guided Solutions fees are the fees of Guided Solutions Flex, the Edward Jones advisory program whose fee is a Program Fee plus a Platform Fee, each a tiered annual rate payable monthly in arrears. The schedule prints a maximum of 1.35% for the Program Fee and 0.05% for the Platform Fee, which add to 1.40% on the first $250,000 (computed here by adding the two printed rates). The brochure says the initial investment must generally be at least $25,000.
What Guided Solutions Flex is
The brochure describes the program in one sentence: “Guided Solutions Flex is a client-directed advisory program sponsored by Edward Jones designed to provide the client with ongoing investment advice, guidance and services for an” asset-based fee. It also separates the program from the firm’s other advisory offerings: “Other advisory programs offered through Edward Jones are not described in this Brochure.” “These programs offer different services and investments and some have different fees and minimum investment requirements.”
The page on Edward Jones fees covers the firm broadly. This page covers only the Flex program fee. The advisory entity named in the brochure is Edward D. Jones & Co., L.P., which the SEC’s adviser database lists under CRD 250 as Edward Jones with that legal name among its other names. The database was checked on October 16, 2026 and shows the investment adviser registration as active.
The fee schedule as printed
The schedule opens with the structure: “The Guided Solutions Flex Fee is comprised of the Program Fee and the Platform Fee, net of any applicable fee reduction or fee offset”. It states how each part is capped: “The Program Fee is assessed up to a maximum annual fee rate of 1.35%, payable monthly in arrears.” “The Platform Fee is assessed up to a maximum annual fee rate of 0.05%, payable monthly in arrears.”
Both parts are printed as tiers on the value of assets in the account. The first three columns below repeat the schedule. The last column adds the two printed rates for each tier and is computed here, not printed by Edward Jones.
| Value of assets in account | Program Fee annual rate, as printed | Platform Fee annual rate, as printed | Both rates added |
|---|---|---|---|
| First $250,000 | 1.35% | 0.05% | 1.40% (computed) |
| Next $250,000 | 1.30% | 0.05% | 1.35% (computed) |
| Next $500,000 | 1.20% | 0.04% | 1.24% (computed) |
| Next $1,500,000 | 1.00% | 0.03% | 1.03% (computed) |
| Next $2,500,000 | 0.80% | 0.02% | 0.82% (computed) |
| Next $5,000,000 | 0.60% | 0.01% | 0.61% (computed) |
| Over $10,000,000 | 0.50% | 0.00% | 0.50% (computed) |
The schedule says how the rate is applied: “The Guided Solutions Flex Fee is calculated by multiplying the applicable fee rate (which includes both the Program Fee and the Platform Fee) by the market value of all assets (using the previous month’s average daily balance)” held in the account.
What the fee comes to in dollars
The schedule prints rates, not dollar amounts. The table applies each printed rate to the slice of the balance inside its tier, then adds the Program Fee and the Platform Fee. Each cell shows the formula and the inputs, and every dollar figure and effective rate in it is an illustration computed here, not a figure Edward Jones prints.
| Account value | Program Fee, computed | Platform Fee, computed | Flex Fee for a year, computed | Effective rate, computed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $100,000 | $100,000 times 1.35% is $1,350 | $100,000 times 0.05% is $50 | $1,350 plus $50 is $1,400 | $1,400 divided by $100,000 is 1.40% |
| $250,000 | $250,000 times 1.35% is $3,375 | $250,000 times 0.05% is $125 | $3,375 plus $125 is $3,500 | $3,500 divided by $250,000 is 1.40% |
| $500,000 | $250,000 times 1.35% is $3,375 plus $250,000 times 1.30% is $3,250 for a total of $6,625 | $250,000 times 0.05% is $125 plus $250,000 times 0.05% is $125 for a total of $250 | $6,625 plus $250 is $6,875 | $6,875 divided by $500,000 is 1.375% |
| $1,000,000 | $250,000 times 1.35% is $3,375 plus $250,000 times 1.30% is $3,250 plus $500,000 times 1.20% is $6,000 for a total of $12,625 | $250,000 times 0.05% is $125 plus $250,000 times 0.05% is $125 plus $500,000 times 0.04% is $200 for a total of $450 | $12,625 plus $450 is $13,075 | $13,075 divided by $1,000,000 is 1.3075% |
The results are before any fee reduction or offset. The effective rate falls from 1.40% at $250,000 to 1.3075% at $1,000,000 because the higher tiers apply only to the dollars above the earlier tiers. The brochure sums up the direction: “Accounts with higher values generally pay lower fee rates than accounts with lower values.”
Billing follows the same schedule month by month. The brochure says “The Guided Solutions Flex Fee is charged to your account each month in arrears”.
What the fee covers
The brochure lists the services behind the Program Fee: “initial and ongoing analysis of your investment needs and objectives; periodic consultations; ongoing evaluation and selection of investments for this program” and “periodic performance reporting; custody and transaction execution services and other related services as described in this Brochure.”
The Platform Fee has a separate stated purpose: “for the support and maintenance of accounts on the Edward Jones investment advisory platform, such as trading and risk tools, training and education, and ongoing platform development.”
On trading, the brochure says “You will not be charged trade commissions or mark-ups for Guided Solutions Flex trades.”
Minimum account size
The account requirement is stated in Item 5: “Your initial investment in a Guided Solutions Flex account must generally be at least $25,000.” The brochure also sets a floor on staying in the program: “If the value of your account falls significantly (for example, a balance of $10,000 or below), we may, in our discretion, remove your account from Guided Solutions Flex.”
The stated holding period is a general rule: “As a general rule, you should intend to invest in Guided Solutions Flex for a minimum of three (3) years.”
Charges outside the Flex Fee, and fund expenses
The Flex Fee is not the whole cost of holding the account. The brochure says that “affiliated mutual funds and unaffiliated mutual funds and ETFs that you purchase or that are held in your account have internal fees and expenses that are described in the prospectus of each fund.” It then states the relationship to the program fee: “Internal fees and expenses are in addition to the Guided Solutions Flex Fee described above and vary depending on the particular mutual fund or ETF.”
The list of items the fee does not cover reads: “the Guided Solutions Flex Fee does not cover the following (if applicable to your account): transfer taxes; electronic fund, wire and other account transfer fees; internal fees and expenses incurred by mutual funds or ETFs purchased for your account; mutual fund redemption fees and contingent deferred sales charges”. On margin, “Margin loan balances, if any, do not reduce the market value of my Account for the purposes of calculating the Guided Solutions Flex Fee”.
The schedule closes with what can change the billed amount: “Edward Jones may combine certain advisory program accounts of the same client and/or related clients for the Guided Solutions Flex Fee calculation as further described in the Brochure.” “Edward Jones’ billing cycle is subject to change without notice.” The schedule itself prints no rate for any other advisory program, and the brochure sends the reader to the other programs’ own brochures.
How the advisor is paid, and leaving
The brochure discloses an incentive tied to this program. “A financial advisor will typically earn more in upfront fees and commissions when you use brokerage services.” “In the alternative, a financial advisor will typically earn more over time if you invest in Guided Solutions Flex.” “This creates a financial incentive for your financial advisor to recommend Guided Solutions Flex instead of brokerage services.”
On ending the program, “You or Edward Jones may terminate your participation in Guided Solutions Flex at any time without any advisory termination fee.” The steps for moving an account are on how to leave Edward Jones. The documents read for this page are the Guided Solutions Flex Account Schedule of Fees (form IAS-10455P-A-E-FS, Rev. Mar 2026) and the Guided Solutions Flex Account Brochure, dated as of March 27, 2026, both of which edwardjones.com served on 2026-10-16. Check the revision printed on the schedule and brochure you were given, because the rates, the minimum and the fee reductions can change with a later revision.
Common mistakes
- Reading 1.35% as the whole fee. The schedule prints a Program Fee with a 1.35% maximum and a separate Platform Fee with a 0.05% maximum, and says the Flex Fee is comprised of the Program Fee and the Platform Fee.
- Applying the first-tier rate to the whole balance. The schedule is a tiered table, and the computed examples above apply each rate only to the slice of assets inside its tier.
- Leaving fund costs out of the comparison. The brochure says the internal fees and expenses of mutual funds and ETFs are in addition to the Guided Solutions Flex Fee and do not appear as a separate entry on the account statement.
