Updated August 7, 2026. Quick answer: 6 charts built from data we either measured ourselves or read from the primary source, free to reuse with attribution under CC BY 4.0. The source line and our URL are drawn inside each image, so the attribution travels even if the link does not. Each chart is plain SVG — no JavaScript, no tracking, no external request — so the embed below is the whole picture and nothing phones home.
How to use these
Embedding: use each chart’s view source and copy the <svg> element. It is self-contained — paste it into your page and it renders, with no file to host and no script to load.
Attribution: CC BY 4.0. Credit Clear Money Guide and, where the chart names an underlying publisher such as ACLI, the Federal Reserve or the BLS, credit them too — that credit is already inside the image.
There are no PNG downloads, and we would rather say why than leave you looking for them. Producing raster images is outside what our publishing toolchain can do, and the alternatives — an external rendering service, or a hotlinked image host — would add exactly the kind of third-party dependency these charts are built to avoid. The SVG is the asset. Any browser or design tool will convert it if you need a raster copy.

Corrections welcome and acted on: if a figure here is wrong or has been superseded, tell us at [email protected] and we will fix the chart and say so on our corrections page. The shelf starts small on purpose — every chart here is built from a dataset we can defend line by line, and it grows as more of them reach that standard.
For journalists and newsletter writers: the newsroom pairs these charts with paste-ready statistics and the datasets behind them.
Reusing any of this? One licence covers all of it — free to reuse, adapt and republish, including commercially, with attribution. No permission needed. Figures we quote from the IRS, SSA, BLS or a state agency belong to their publishers and should be cited to them, with the data year.
