Does Washington Tax Annuity Income? (2026)

Updated October 5, 2026. Quick answer: No, not today. The Department of Revenue says “Washington does not currently have an individual income tax”, so annuity payments add no Washington income tax. A new 9.9% tax on adjusted gross income above $1 million begins January 1, 2028.

What changes in 2026

The 2026 Legislature set a new income tax that begins January 1, 2028, with the first return due in 2029; nothing changes for 2026.

Federal rules
