Updated September 4, 2026. Quick answer. There is no 2027 Saver’s Credit income threshold to project, because 2026 is the credit’s last year. SECURE 2.0 Act §103 repeals the Retirement Savings Contributions Credit under 26 U.S.C. §25B for tax years beginning after December 31, 2026, replacing it with the Saver’s Match, a federal matching contribution paid directly into your retirement account under new IRC §6433, rather than a credit claimed on your tax return. The first matches, on 2027 contributions, are payable in 2028. For 2026, the last year the credit exists in its current form, the AGI ceilings for the top 50% tier are $48,500 (married filing jointly), $36,375 (head of household) and $24,250 (single/married filing separately).
What’s settled, and what changes shape entirely
Settled for 2026 (IRS Notice 2025-67), the full three-tier AGI schedule:
| Filing status | 50% credit ceiling | 20% credit ceiling | 10% credit ceiling |
|---|---|---|---|
| Married filing jointly | $48,500 | $52,500 | $80,500 |
| Head of household | $36,375 | $39,375 | $60,375 |
| Single / married filing separately | $24,250 | $26,250 | $40,250 |
What’s not open, but genuinely different: there is no 2027 version of this table to announce. 26 U.S.C. §25B itself sunsets after 2026 contributions. If you’re planning a 2027 contribution around this credit, the relevant question is no longer “what will the income ceiling be” but “how does the Saver’s Match work instead,” which is a different program with different mechanics: a matching deposit paid into the account, not a credit that reduces the tax you owe.
A limit tells you the ceiling, not the right amount
How much to put in, which account to use and what it displaces elsewhere are separate questions from the limit itself, and an adviser can work through them alongside the rest of your savings.
Before you start, what actually happens. The form is run by Kapitalwise, our advisor-matching partner. Kapitalwise sends your details to advisers who pay for the introduction, so expect calls and texts. Clear Money Guide is paid when you submit the form, whether or not you ever hire anyone. This is free to you and there is no obligation to hire anyone.
The Kapitalwise form opens here. You stay on this page.
What happens when you press the button
It asks about nine questions (age, investable assets, location), then your name, email and phone number, and verifies the phone by text. Nothing loads and nothing reaches Kapitalwise until you press the button. Submitting the form does not guarantee an adviser or a match. This matching form is not tax or legal advice. The numbers, year by year
| Year | MFJ 50% ceiling | MFJ 20% ceiling | MFJ 10% ceiling |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | $46,000 | $50,000 | $76,500 |
| 2025 | $47,500 | $51,000 | $79,000 |
| 2026 (final year) | $48,500 | $52,500 | $80,500 |
| 2027 | no threshold (credit repealed, replaced by the Saver’s Match) | ||
How the Saver’s Match works instead
Starting with 2027 contributions, eligible savers get a federal matching contribution deposited into their retirement account, rather than a nonrefundable credit that only helps if you owe tax. The match is paid the following year (2027 contributions are matched in 2028), and IRS Notice 2026-48 provides implementation guidance. This page will be updated with the Saver’s Match’s own income thresholds once the implementing guidance sets them out in comparable detail; treat any “2027 saver’s credit” dollar figure you see elsewhere as describing a program that will not exist for that year.
