Updated August 10, 2026. Quick answer. 2027 HSA contribution limits are
already official — IRS Revenue Procedure 2026-24, announced May 29, 2026:
$4,500 for self-only coverage (up from $4,400 in 2026) and
$9,000 for family coverage (up from $8,750). The $1,000 catch-up for savers 55
and older is unchanged — it’s fixed by statute, not indexed for inflation.

Four of these figures are indexed. One is a fixed number in the statute. Each bar is the change from this page’s own 2026 column to its 2027 column: the contribution limits rise +2.3% and +2.9%, and both minimum deductibles rise +2.9%, because 26 U.S.C. §223(g)(1) indexes the dollar amounts in subsections (b)(2) and (c)(2)(A) for inflation. The catch-up sits in a different subsection, §223(b)(3)(B), whose own table reads “2009 and thereafter $1,000” — and §223(g)(1) does not list (b)(3) among the amounts it adjusts. So the catch-up has been $1,000 in nominal terms since 2009, and only Congress can change it. The bars are percentage change, not dollars: a +2.9% move on a $1,700 deductible is $50. 2027 figures are IRS Rev. Proc. 2026-24; 2026 figures are Rev. Proc. 2025-19; every cell above was checked against them. CC BY 4.0.
A limit tells you the ceiling, not the right amount
How much to put in, which account to use and what it displaces elsewhere are separate questions from the limit itself, and an adviser can work through them alongside the rest of your savings.

What happens when you press the button
It asks about nine questions (age, investable assets, location), then your name, email and phone number, and verifies the phone by text. Why HSA figures are announced so much earlier than
everything else on this list
HSA limits are set on a different statutory calendar than Social Security, Medicare, or the
general retirement-plan limits — the IRS publishes them via Revenue Procedure well before
the calendar year begins, giving employers time to plan open-enrollment materials. That’s why
this is the one 2027 figure on this site that can be stated as fact rather than a projection,
while COLA, Part B, IRMAA, and the 401(k) limit are all still pending.
The 2027 HSA numbers are final because their measuring period closed in March. Each band is the window the governing statute measures, not the day an agency publishes. The HSA and deductible amounts are indexed under 26 U.S.C. §223(g), which applies the §1(f)(3) adjustment for the preceding calendar year and instructs that §1(f)(4) be read “by substituting ‘March 31’ for ‘August 31’” — so the 2027 amounts depend on the twelve months ending March 31, 2026, and nothing after it. The Social Security COLA waits on the base quarter ending September 30 (42 U.S.C. §415(i)(1)(A)(i)); the retirement-plan limits wait on the same quarter (26 U.S.C. §415(d)(2)(A), and §402(g)(4) moves the 401(k) deferral limit “at the same time and in the same manner”); and the Medicare Part B premium is determined “during September of each year” (42 U.S.C. §1395r(a)(3)), with the IRMAA surcharges computed off it under §1395r(i). This chart deliberately shows no announcement dates for the pending figures: the statutes fix when the inputs close, not when the number is published. CC BY 4.0.
